Haas F1 Signs Rookie Rafael Camara on a Multi-Year Deal From 2027

Formula 1's Haas team has secured a young driver for the future. Racer reports that TGR Haas F1 Team has signed Rafael Camara, a Formula 2 title contender and member of the Ferrari Driving Academy, on a multi-year contract starting in 2027. The news was included in Mac's Motor City Garage's briefing today.

Signing a rookie from a feeder series shows how teams look for talent. Formula 2 is the final step below Formula 1, and drivers who perform well there are often considered for a seat. Camara's link with the Ferrari Driving Academy is also relevant, because Haas has a technical partnership with Ferrari and has previously given opportunities to young drivers from the academy, though I have not seen the details of this particular arrangement.

The report does not say who will be his team-mate or what happens to the current drivers, so I will not speculate. Contracts in Formula 1 involve complex agreements, and announcements often come in stages. A multi-year deal suggests that the team sees him as a longer-term prospect, not just a stopgap.

For fans, the signing adds a new name to watch as the 2027 grid takes shape. For young racers, it is another example of how success in lower categories and support from a manufacturer's academy can lead to the top level. Formula 1 seats are very limited, so every announcement is closely followed. Look for official confirmation from the team, details of his role and any statements about test drives before 2027. His results in the remainder of the Formula 2 season will be worth watching.
